DAD is back to work week...

Hayleigh (last one on the rt.) at swim lessons Maylynn staying occupied and modeling her sunglasses.

Brayden and Maylynn enjoying gma B's pool

Whew - what a week it's been... Taylor hasn't been up to much lately - although this is his last week of rest... his hockey season begins this weekend. He is playing for a AAA team out of Seattle. We are hoping that he has fun playing with some really talented players, good competition and coaching that will help him to play at a higher level. This is going to take up alot of time (driving to Seattle every weekend) and $$$ but, it is his desire to play hockey at a higher level now and in the future. Oh - he did have a bit of fun at a friend's sleepover this week and he has been such a huge help to me around the house and with the girls - he is such a good boy - we are so blessed:)

Brayden has been having fun hanging out with his buddy Jeff this week and enjoying the last of the lazy dayz of summer. We had his Catfish Swimming Banquet tonight - we were hoping to find out how he did with the Championship meet but we didn't. We think that he did really good but ??? We are praying about him trying out for the Channel Cat swim team in a few weeks... He's almost ready for school - we bought the supplies and gma B. is going to take him school shopping on Sat and then we'll be set! We just need to find out who his teacher is - his school doesn't tell them until 4 days before school starts - i'm not happy about this policy! Under a previous principal they used to have a move up day before the year ended to see who was in their class and meet their new teacher to help with the transition but not anymore:( I guess I'll have to get used to it- we will be at that school for another 8 years - by the time we are done with Ridgeview, i'll have had kids there for about 17 years total- YIKES!
Hayleigh - sigh... she is, well... she is having a hard time with the new little sister. She is my struggle right now. She (and I) need prayers. Anyway, she loves her sister but doesn't know how to play with her. She doesn't know how to play with anyone - she is constantly causing trouble and will not just "play". We've sat with them and try to help facilitate the playing etc but it always turns into a battle or an annoyance of Hayleigh bothering/pestering maylynn (or her brothers)etc... On a lighter note - she has had swimming lessons this week. She hasn't had any activities this summer and i'm glad that i waited until now to give her something special to do while no one else has anything going on. We also had preschool orientation this week and just her and i went - we left the other kids at home. I think she enjoyed that and i'm planning on figuring out some other special one on one times with her...
Maylynn is doing absolutely great -(i hope i'm not jinxing it by saying that) she has seemed to attach to me. There has been a few times when i've left her with Lance and she's cried for me - yeah! or when i'll walk away from her (but she's with Lance) at a public place and she cries for me - yeah! :) She had a Pediatrician appt. this week (she cried b/c she remembered it from last time but nothing bad happened last time so????) and she's gained a pound in 1 week:) She has taken the "garbage gut" title away from the boys! She eats really good :) She sits down - eats - and is done - no messing around! Hayleigh is still that last one at the table - we are hoping she'll speed it up a bit after she sees the fun that M. is having with her precious toys:) haha... so, Maylynn is 36" tall (75-90%) and about 30lbs. (50-75%) - not too bad for percentiles. She loves to sing - i love hearing her voice but sometimes my ears just need a rest:) Many times she'll walk up to me and tell me something in Chinese - i just love it but wish that i knew what she was saying:( I've tried to have her show me and sometimes that works. She really seems to understand alot of what i am saying or asking her to do - she is so smart! She is understanding the routines too and does very well now in the bath, brushing teeth (she loves to brush now), getting her hair done, and the sleeping routine of books, potty, rocking & singing. The girls are now in their own beds - Hayleigh on the top bunk and Maylynn on the bottom. This has been working great - they both are sleeping longer! I usually do the "routine" and lay on Maylynn's bed for about 10 minutes and then leave - many times Maylynn is still awake and is learning to fall asleep without me - what a blessing:) Honestly - she is doing so wonderfully well - it is so unbelievable! Everything that i've ever prayed and hoped for! Especially, since we got off to a very rough start... We've only had 1 incident but i know it was provoked by Hayleigh - Maylynn took a nice big "chomp" on Hayleigh's stomach and i am hoping that lessons were learned by both girls... we haven't had that incident since...
Lance is back to work this week. He loves being home but i think he's enjoying being out of the house a bit;) He has also been trying to figure out what is wrong with our garage door opener - we are so frustrated with it and don't want to buy a new one but we don't know what else to do. I am keeping everything going - i am getting tired though... that's why we decided that i should take Taylor to Seattle for 1 nite for a littel R&R and to spend time with my big boy - i enjoy trapping him in the car for 8 hours and no one else to talk to! :) We are also hoping that Maylynn will do okay with me being gone and it won't mess up everything that I've accomplished with her so far. It will give her back some bonding time with her daddy and for her to learn to trust that i will return for her.

I just found your blog. We have 5 kiddos ages 17, 14, 10, 4, and 3. Our youngest is from Youyang, although she had been moved to Fuling whemn she was an infant. We adopted her when she was two. She is a tough little cookie who keeps me on my toes! Best wishes. Your girls are adorable and will bond over time. Our youngest two have very different personalitites and it took some time for them to understand and appreciate each other.
