USA Hockey

taylor was selected to go attend the U16 USA Hockey National Development Camp in rochester, ny.  the camp was last week - here's an article that was printed in the local paper:


Taylor Vickerman of Kennewick and Keith Anderson of Hermiston were selected to attend USA Hockey National Player Development Camps.
Vickerman will attend camp July 7-13 in Rochester, N.Y., while Anderson will attend the following week.
Vickerman, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound left wing, played last season for the Cleveland Barons Minor Midget team, scoring 13 goals with 28 assists in 61 games.
A 2011 sixth-round (112th overall) WHL bantam draft pick of the Vancouver Giants, Vickerman signed with the WHL club April 24.
Anderson was selected in the sixth round (115th overall) of this year's bantam draft by the Victoria Royals.
Anderson, a 6-foot, 200-pound right wing, played last season for the Arizona Bobcats AAA and the Phoenix Firebirds.

it was a long week for taylor but he played hard and it showed.  we found out yesterday that he was selected to attend the 5 Nations tournament in Czech Republic next month!  he was so excited and we are so happy for him!  here is the article posted on the USA Hockey website:
2012 U.S. Under-17 Select Team Revealed

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Twenty players who participated at USA Hockey's Boys' Select 16 Player Development Camp that ended today in Rochester, N.Y., have been selected for the 2012 U.S. Under-17 Select Team. The squad will compete at the 2012 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament Aug. 7-11, in Chomutov, Kadan and Klasterec, Czech Republic.

The U.S. roster features 11 forwards, including Shane Gersich (Chaska, Minn.), who led the Boy's Select 16 Player Development Camp with seven assists and 12 points in six games. The seven-man defensive corps for Team USA includes Jack Dougherty (Cottage Grove, Minn.), Keegan Ford(Waunakee, Wis.) and Robert Nardella (Rosemont, Ill.).
Sharing goaltending duties will be Chris Birdsall (Glen Rock, N.J.), who allowed just three goals in six games at the development camp, and Eric Scheirhorn (Anchorage, Alaska).

Notes: The 2012 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament will include teams from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland and the United States ... Barry Smith (Whitefish, Mont.) will serve as head coach, while Pat Mikesch (Hancock, Mich.) will fill the role of assistant coach for the 2012 U.S. Under-17 Select team ... The 20 players on the U.S. roster represent 12 different states. Minnesota leads the way with five players, while Michigan and Illinois each have three ... The U.S. will face off with the Czech Republic in an exhibition game on Aug. 5 ... The annual USA Hockey Select 16 Player Development Camp provides top young players with concentrated on- and off-ice instruction as well as the opportunity to compete at the national level against other players from their age group.
