Taylor's Seafair Tourney Weekend...

This post is a bit overdue... we got home from the looooong weekend (i say long weekend b/c Richmond, BC is 6 hrs away and it was a 4 day tourney) and everyone got sick after we got home- i have yet to be hit hard so i am trying to stay on top of all my vitamins etc...

Anyway, we left home Fri 10/9 (Gpa B's bday) at 0dark30! We got to Canada around 12:30 - zipped through the border and then got lost! We had thought we would be okay with the mapquest directions and Gma V.'s Iphone but NO! First we almost went back over the border -then we ended up driving past the street we needed to turn on at least 4 times! Ugh! So, as soon as we found the practice rink - i headed straight to Canadian Tire to find a GPS with Canadian maps! Lance was a little nervous and hoped that i didn't spend a fortune but i truly think God was behind me and wanted me to have some sort of peace for the weekend and future trips - i luckily found one that wat $89.00 cnd! SCORE!! I was thrilled with my deal and the thought of not being lost in Canada no more!!! woohoo! so far it has proved to be worth the $$$!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express (our new home away from home:)) which was located right next door to the rink! LOVED IT!!!! A hockey families dream to have the rink next door - especially for those 7am games when you need to be at the rink by 6am - mom's get to sleep in;) And, in the same parking lot there was a huge movie theatre, The Old Spaghetti Factory, a waterpark & subway! We were as pleased as punch!

As for the hockey - the boys did a really good job. We just love watching this team! They are all go getters and play so hard! The first 2 games was a bit of an eye opener for them but the last 2 games they stepped it up and tied and then lost in OT. Taylor got player of the game for game 4. His next Tournament is Nov. 6th in Kamloops (at least 9hrs away) unfortunately, that's a little too far for the whole family and just Lance will go with him...
